I'm on day 2 of my 4 day long weekend. I have PTO to burn up so why not? I have Xmas shopping to do anyway and my mind was a bubbling cauldron of stress, anxiety and general discomfort. I needed a break, if only to wander around Macy's for a bit. But you know what? It's been really great so far. Like, much better than I thought a break from work would be. Sure I did a heck of a lot of laundry, but I was so psyched about some new bedding I purchased on Cyber Monday (it's not as dirty as it's name implies). I know...I've become far too domesticated, but SHEETS! I love good bedding. These were 400tc King sized Cotton Sateen sheets. Mmmmm. I like our 450's better but for $26 inclusive of shipping to get King sized sheets?! I'm not going to complain. They're fabulous. I'm sure as you go up and up and up it gets better but having too-good of taste only proves to bite you in the butt because you'll never want to sleep in common sheets ev...

David Glass Cakes

Image
Whoa...I've seen more of my friend Amanda this past week than I have in the past year. We had dinner on Tuesday and went cake testing today. Nothing too extraordinary about a dinner of nachos and escargot (well, at least not to us) but I took a belated lunch break and went to have some cake with Amanda at David Glass . Now, perhaps I'm out of the cake eating loop since I so often make my own but apparently this David Glass dude is a really big deal in the cake world. I'll say this; it's very yummy. I'm fond of his mousse cake and chocolate covered almond cake having had some at Bamboo Garden this past Chinese New Year but haven't partaken of much else until today. Apparently they open up the factory (it essentially is just that; it's located in nowheresville in the middle of an industrial park) and have a small table of cakes out for you to circle and try slices of. I had at least 4 slices of various cheesecakes and I must say that I was totally stuffe...

Keep Rollin' Rollin' Rollin...

I saw Kim yesterday because she was super excited about her new car. Yes, she got a new car. Now, I haven't experienced any mechanical problems with my Mazda at all, and it's over 2 years old, but Kim seems to have constantly experienced issues with hers including her airbag light going on unnecessarily, a weird humming noise, 2 accidents, and many, many lost hubcaps. The icing on the cake was that she was having issues going in Reverse, which meant around $2,000 to repair the transmission. Mind you, the car is under 3 years old. So instead she decided to trade that car in and get a new one, and this time a white Scion TC, 2 door coupe. Now, I have to say that it's very cute and sporty looking and of course it's got the brand new shiny car appeal. She went for an upgraded version with a spoiler, rims (not hubcaps), and a bazillion airbags. As can be expected, Kim is beyond the moon with excitement. We celebrated by taking a spin in her new ride and going to Spri...

Everyday Minerals

I need to make a PSA. I want to preface this by saying I've never used this product. Everyday Minerals : I ran into this site while surfing around for reasonably priced makeup that won't rub off/look shiny/make me break out on my wedding day. EM will actually send you free samples with three shades of foundation, a shade of concealer & a shade of blush to figure out which shade goes best with your skintone. All you have to pay for is shipping. I just put in an order for the free samples and the shipping was just under $4, which is very decent considering how much product they're sending your way. I hate wearing makeup. I never wear it, but everyone's been making a big fuss about mineral makeup recently and I figure it's best to try it out before jumping in and spending like $60 on the popular brand they sell on tv. Ugh, I've never spent $60 on makeup ever. In any case, I'll update on it when it finally comes in the mail. =)

Free Earrings really came

I admit it, I can't say no to free stuff. Well, imagine my surprise when I checked my mail the day before yesterday. Living in an apartment I'm not terribly fond of checking the mail since I have to go downstairs and I have to technically leave the building so I have to remember my keys or I'll be locked out. In any case we probably don't check the mail half as often as we should so the box was completely stuffed. Like if they wanted to squeeze even one more envelope it'd be quite a struggle for Mr. Mailman. So after digging out our mail and carrying the armload up to our apartment I finally start to divide it up. Junk mail....credit card offer...Thank you note from Susan for the shower gifts...tiny manila envelope addressed to me. I looked on the return address and to my dismay it was Pearls Only . I had linked them to my blog some time back & didn't think much of it other than "it couldn't hurt to try it out." Link to their site and ...
