It's a cushion...for my face

Did you miss makeup madness?  Probably not, but while I'm in the mood I've wanted to mention my current interest in cushion foundation.  I don't think too much about the other cushion products but since it's such a craze in Korea there's typically a reason something like that really takes off.  Typically I'm a big fan of Physician's Formula products at the drugstore even though they're a pricier product there because they don't make me break out, almost everything contains SPF30+, many are fragrance free and all of the BB and CC products other than just tinting my face actually have skincare properties as well and I'm willing to pay a bit more to avoid looking like a pizza.  I was going to try and get the PF cushion but as much as I wander CVS I haven't seen my shade and in an impatient moment I decided to just jump on and get the L'oreal True Match Lumi Cushion product instead.  I bought it with my own money and after sales and rebates i...

Can it Cover this Girl and Outlast this life?

Dudes...did you know I'm not a big makeup wearer?  I've tried at various points in my life to snazzy up with a little lipstick and a little powder but I am about 95% of the time completely without any true foundation type makeup because a.) makeup takes time and I'd rather be sleeping b.) it feels weird for people who don't wear makeup everyday to suddenly wear makeup.  I do like buying makeup at the drugstore oddly enough. I like looking at beautiful packaging and I especially love a nice tube of lipstick. Nothing perks me up like a new lippy.  Not lip gloss, not lip stain, not lip balm...just old fashioned stick to your teeth lipstick. I love it. However now that I'm getting older I admit that I need a little advantage in my court. Those long nights have caught up to me comforting my fussy younger child (my elder child was a dream so for all of you thinking about number two just remember that. I preemptively curse you just as I was also preemptively cursed. No...

Our Wedding

Image
Now that some of the chaos of the past few days has simmered down I guess the best thing to do is give you my brides-eye view of the events. Wednesday was flowers. Oh, the flowers. lol In case you didn't know or have forgotten I decided to do the flowers for my own wedding. Bouquets and boutineers..nothing crazy fancy like giant topiary displays shaped like cherubs. Just the basics. I was up to my ears in pink roses and pink daisies but they were so beautiful. I'm really happy how they all came out and they looked really stunning against the green bridesmaids dresses. On Thursday we closed on our home. We also picked up our marriage license and were generally a little crazy. I think Devin was at least 5 times more excited about the whole house thing than we were. It was also my last full day at work and I was insane running around updating people on what's been going on with my plans. I later finished up working on all my place cards. Friday was all errands. Thi...

The singles and the engaged

Congrats to Jeff & Jill on their recent engagement! Slowly but surely all the friends are getting married. Shaun and Joe beat us all, but the rest of us are getting there too. In other relationship news, though not quite as exciting unfortunately, Kim and her live-in boyfriend Ryan have broken up. I put off posting about it though in hopes that they'd work it out. Particularly since they live together and still share a bedroom I thought it was inevitable that they'd kiss and make up but a week has passed so far and nothing's been happening. I still sort of hope that they'll re-kindle their flame, but the heart wants what it wants and if they can manage living together without an awful lot of awkwardness then I guess being apart isn't the end of the world either. All of Kim's friends are single and quite ready to mingle. lol Kim lives with Anya, Anya's friends with Viki, Viki's friends with Dianna...and so on and so on. So, usually I'd be c...

Dream a little dream

Do you ever dream that you woke up? I had one of those dreams today when I was totally convinced I was already awake and I peeked out the window to see that it was snowing. While the weather is hardly gorgeous, it's certainly not going to snow in September. But, I always end up a little disoriented when I actually wake up because it feels a little bit like deja vu, except this time minus the snow. It's probably too early for posting, but I'm up and Trevor is not. I can't seem to sleep in late the way I used to. I have absolutely no plans this weekend, which is actually pretty refreshing. Kim's off with her boyfriend in Boston. Ni's back in Cali. It's kinda cruddy outside too so I'm sure that stunts my desire to accomplish anything. I'm usually very task oriented. I don't even have a menu planned out. But I'm lazy and I just want mindless dribble to entertain me. http://www.celebrity-babies.com/ -> I'm not at the point where I...

E.L.F Review

Image
I've heard a little buzz about this makeup line called E.L.F, which stands for Eyes, Lips, Face. A lot of fashion magazines have been mentioning them. They sell makeup at $1 a pop, which of course is Wet 'n Wild level cheap. I had a coupon code, for an additional 50% off their already cheap prices and I figure it couldn't hurt to give it a go. The discount basically negated the cost of shipping, which is $5. I bought about $10 worth of stuff and I'll review what I got. -The All over Color stick sucks. I got it in Persimmon & it's way shimmery. It doesn't look pink it all, it just looks silver on your skin. I tossed it almost immediately. Don't even bother considering it. It's not good as a lipstick, shadow or blush. - Clarifying Pressed Powder is okay. I got tone 2 since I figure I'm not pale as a ghost or Irish and I'm never the darkest shades because while I'm ethnic I'm not the darkest girl I know. They only offer 4 to...

Everyday Minerals

I need to make a PSA. I want to preface this by saying I've never used this product. Everyday Minerals : I ran into this site while surfing around for reasonably priced makeup that won't rub off/look shiny/make me break out on my wedding day. EM will actually send you free samples with three shades of foundation, a shade of concealer & a shade of blush to figure out which shade goes best with your skintone. All you have to pay for is shipping. I just put in an order for the free samples and the shipping was just under $4, which is very decent considering how much product they're sending your way. I hate wearing makeup. I never wear it, but everyone's been making a big fuss about mineral makeup recently and I figure it's best to try it out before jumping in and spending like $60 on the popular brand they sell on tv. Ugh, I've never spent $60 on makeup ever. In any case, I'll update on it when it finally comes in the mail. =)
